GPMP Advocacy Day at the Capitol in Washington, DC

Assistant Professor Heather Whitney and GPMP student Gia Jadick recently visited several congressional offices in Illinois as part of the AAPM Advocacy Day. They met with the offices of Senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, as well as Representatives Bill Foster and Jonathan Jackson.

The experience was very informative, and the staff showed a genuine interest in the field of Medical Physics, along with the related pending legislation they discussed. The staff also expressed concern over the cuts to the NIH and NSF, highlighting the importance of these organizations and their efforts to advocate for a return to bipartisan support.
